Dax's Not Going To Be BackThere was other big news at the convention, mostly concerning the status of actress Terry Farrell, who plays Jadzia Dax on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."Farrell confirmed to a stunned audience of "Star Trek" fans that she intends on leaving "Deep Space Nine" at the end of this, the show's sixth season. All of the other regular actors have signed on for a seventh season of the popular syndicated show. Farrell was visibly shaken during her appearance at the "Grand Slam Show." Speaking directly to the fans, Farrell said "Thank you so much for all the
support." Of her experience playing Jadzia Dax, Farrell noted that "It's changed me. It's changed my life." Choking up, she continued. "It's been one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life." Farrell gave no reason for the departure, but it's widely believed a salary dispute is behind the move. "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" began shooting the final episode of its sixth season the week of April 6th. Most of the speculation at the convention made it seem as though Farrell's
"Dax" character would likely die in the episode, to be aired in June as the
season finale. Must It Go On? If Fans Have Their Way..."Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" executive producer Rick Berman has yet to officially confirm that the show will go on, but co-executive producer Ronald D. Moore has all but confirmed that there will be a seventh season on his AOL message board. Berman recently expressed optimism that if the show did return, all of the cast members would return. He told the "Star Trek Communicator" (the official fan magazine for the various "Trek" series and movies) "I absolutely predict that the entire cast will be back." There's been no official announcement from the studio about Farrell's leaving the show. This page is a mirror of the original at UltimateTV.com
